The Philippine National Basketball Team, more popularly known as the Gilas Pilipinas will be facing South American powerhouse team Puerto Rico, as they battle for the last two spots in Group B as the Group stage is nearing its end. Gilas Pilipinas’ back is now behind the wall, as they gun for their first two wins which is badly needed by the team to make the Knock Out stages of the 2014 FIBA World Cup. Philippines needs two wins against Puerto Rico and Senegal to advanced to the next round or the Round of 16 in the world basketball championship.
The undersize but courageous Philippine contingent to the World Cup will battle Puerto Rico which is headed by former PBA import Renaldo Balkman. The game will be held at the Centro Deportivo San Pablo.
The Philippines needs a win tonight to keep their contention in the competition, as they previously lost their first three games against powerhouse teams, Croatia, Greece and Argentina.
The Puerto Rican national basketball team is now in danger of an upset by the Philippines as they already lost superstar guard and NBA veteran Carlos Arroyo who was sidelined for injuries alongside their outside shooter Daniel Vasallo who was also injured during the second game of Puerto Rico.
