Possibility Of Yolanda Typed-Typhoon In PH For Every 2 Years

Because of climate change, Philippines is in fear of a severe weather disturbance. This will somehow be like the magnitude of typhoon Yolanda that will enter in the country for the span of every 2 years. This is according to the latest study released by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The news is featured in ABS-CBN news.

The increase in average rainfall would somehow mean that there’s a possibility of of a strong typhoons and floods in the country. This is based on the study entitled “Contributors to the Frequency of Intense Climate Disasters in Asia-Pacific Countries.”

As they say, if the precipitation average hits 12 mm per month, this would also mean that there would be a greater increase in frequency of the said disasters in the country. This would somehow mean an additional event in the country for every 2 years.

This is based on ADB’s high end scenario.

On the other hand, based on the moderate scenario of an increase of 8 mm per month. heavy floods and strong typhoons could occur in the country for every 3 years.

Somehow, one of the three major risks that could turn a natural phenomenon into a disaster was the increase in the intensity and frequency of climate related hazards. Other are the exposure of growing populations.

With this, the ADB said that countries like Philippines should already think and do such preventive measures about this matter. This will somehow be a better measure to serve as a response in this matter.

Seems that Filipinos should now start to be prepared on the possibilities of natural calamities that would lead to disasters that will happen in the country as soon as possible. Indeed, many lives have already been damaged because of it. By which, prevention is really much needed by now.
