Bureau of Customs (BOC) Preliminary Screening List of Passers Released

The Philippine Bureau of Customs announced on Wednesday that a total of 5,000 aspiring BOC applicants passed the Preliminary Screening for the 1,065 vacant positions at the Bureau of Customs which is also considered as one of the most controversial bureau of the Philippine government.

According to the latest announcement released through the official website of the BOC and the National Gazette, the pre-screened applicants comprised about 80% of 6,013 who submitted their application to the Bureau of Customs.

The list which are enumerated by major Regional Offices, such as NCR, Cebu and Davao. The BOC also noted that those who passed the Preliminary Screenings are now required to take the General Ability and Competency Exam to be administered by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) on August 31, 2014.

The BOC added further that the Civil Service Commission (CSC) developed the general ability and competency exam for the BOC. It will be administered in Metro Manila for applicants in the National Capital Regiona (NCR) and Luzon. For those in Cebu and the Visayas, the examination will be at the St. Theresa’s College while the University of Mindanao-Matina Campus will host the applicants in Mindanao.

The BOC also clarified that many of the applicants were disqualified because they had inappropriate civil service eligibility or professional license or credential from the Professional Regulation Commission, the Philippine National Police or the Philippine Bar.

For those who will passed the first examination of the CSC and the BOC will be required to take the aptitude and psychometric tests as well as specific exams to further test the qualification and fitness of applicants to perform the duties of the position they are applying for.
