After 2 years since it had introduced the evolution of the Long-Term Evolution (LTE) or also known as 4G, Smart Communications had begun the use of LTE-Advanced “5G” in it’s wireless services.
5G or the 5th generation mobile networks denotes the next major phase of mobile telecommunications. It is capable of a data speed between 100 megabits per second (mbps) to 1 gigabit per second (Gbps). This also means 10 times faster than 3G services and more than twice on 4G services. It is now running in the Philippines largest and strongest network. This is also known as LTE-A.
The company had already tested it last year and it resulted to over 100 Mbps of speed in some areas like Makati City, Davao City as well as in Boracay.
In addition, this will only give a downloading time of 10 mb file for less than a second. Buffering’s for Youtube videos will no longer be necessary even video calls will just be smoother.
According to Orlando Vea who is the founder and Chief Wireless Adviser of Smart during their press release, “Even as our 3G and 4G networks continue to be unrivaled, Smart becomes the first operator to leap into the future and put the Philippines at par with the world’s most advanced countries in terms of mobile communications technology.”
Through it, Smart had joined some leading mobile operators in South Korea, Singapore, Australia, United States and even Hong Kong.
