A Filipino student identified as Mininio Buhat became the latest victim of cyber bullying after grammar police mocked and insulted her on social media without knowing that the girl was born profoundly deaf. A lot of netizens bashed and made fun of her Facebook post that went viral during the past few days because of her faulty written English.
Most netizens bashed and insulted the deaf Filipino student on Facebook, Mininio posted and just expressed about her experience while studying in college. Because of her disability, the words she used was scrambled and somehow the thought was not clear.
Deaf people according to experts uses the English grammar and sentence construction based upon their sign language and the proper use of grammar will be taught in the latter part of the their education in college.
Mininio Buhat is a student of De La Salle College of St. Benilde and currently residing in Muntinlupa City. The post of Mininio went viral after some netizens made a screen grab and made fun of it on Facebook.
Some netizens who commented on the Mininio Buhat’s FB post humiliated the deaf Pinoy student by commenting: Sakit sa ulo basahin, Bigti na! and “Ito and tunay na nakakanosebleed,” some netizens commented.
The bashing of Mininio Buhat only stopped when a concerned citizen identified as Mike E. Sandejas, an independent film director came to the rescue and explained the situation of deaf people and their inability to use English in the proper way.
According to Director Mike Sandeja, he wanted to teach lessons to those who cyber bullied the deaf Pinoy. According to Sandejas deaf people were his inspiration for his indie movie titled “Dinig Sana Kita.”
This article is interesting and I must to follow it. I Love your English. It’s always better not to judge people by the way they write in English but in the way they wants their thoughts to be heard.
At least she can write English despite of her condition
