The story of the father and son began from the early 1980’s until the present day Singapore, their story culminates in a revelation about the umbrella and how it symbolizes a promise that binds three generations.
According to his father, the umbrella is his best possessions, and all his possessions are intended for his son. The words of his father, reminded the son’s early days when he first saw the importance of an umbrella on their daily lives.
As years go by, the son became busy with his work and his new family, he even found it difficult to talk with his father, until one day he realized his mistakes and posted a note pasted on the memorable umbrella which reads “I can’t walk every step with you, but I want always be next to you.” That message alone brought back their memories.
As the father and son anticipates the new addition to their family, a tragedy struck with the family, as the old man passed away after an accident that caused his death.
The son realized further, the true meaning and importance of the umbrella given to him by his father when he was still young. The former son, who now turns to be a father, and told his son, that the “red umbrella” was his grandfather’s entire life.
