Manny Pacquiao to Join PBA Draft in August

Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao announces that he will be joining Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) draft this coming August.

According the 8th Division World Boxing Champion and Sarangani representative, he will play in behalf of Kia Motors, one of the newest franchise team of PBA along with NLEX and Blackwater Sports. He is also set to take part as one of the coach of the newest PBA team.

“Magpa-draft ako this coming August, then mag-playing coach ako sa Kia Motors,” the 35-year-old Filipino boxing icon told Bombo Radyo Philippines.

PBA Commisioner Chito Salud clarified that Manny Pacquiao needs to undergone the traditional Rookie Draft for him to be qualified to play on PBA.

Manny Pacquiao earlier noted that his team which will introduced a set of powerhouse key players will be tag as Kia Kamao.

Meanwhile, the reigning WBO Welterweight champion shrugged off criticisms swirling him with others claiming that he is not suited in basketball.

The upcoming PBA Draft will kick off in August at Robinson’s Place Ermita in Manila. The Philippine Basketball Association has yet to issue statement regarding the details about the upcoming draft.

Manny Pacquiao last appeared inside the ring with his rematch against American contender Timothy Bradley where he won his welterweight belt.

The long-rated pound-for-pound king is currently being rumored for anew fight against Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez where he got his greatest knockout in 2012.
