The Philippine Azkals will face their toughest opponent in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Challenge Cup which is considered as the qualifying event for the winner of the tournament who will earn a ticket to the prestigious Asian Cup 2015 Finals in Australia.

The Philippines most popular striker Phil Younghusband will not be playing against Afghanistan tonight together with team captain Rob Gier, they were both suspended for tonight’s match because of their previous offenses.
Phil Younghusband was sent off in the Azkals 1-0 win over Turkmenistan after getting two yellow cards while veteran defender Rob Gier received penalties during the Turkmenistan game and followed by the Azkals win over Cambodia.
With the absence of Rob Gier, the Philippine Azkals captain’s job will be at the shoulders of Filipino-Spanish defender Juani Guirado. The TV coverage of the Azkals vs. Afghanistan match will be shown live though ABS-CBN’s Sports and Action (formerly Studio 23) starting at 11:30 PM. Replay of the game will be on May 21, 2014 at around 1:00 PM.
