The creator of the renowned mobile game told CNBC’s Kelly Evans on Thursday, May 15, 2014 (Philippine Time) that the app could be making a return to Apple’s App Store on early August.

However, the Twitter post did not state if the hit app could make a possible comeback on Google Play Store. The app has been removed from the app stores because its developer, Dong Nguyen thought it had become too addictive.

“Flappy Bird’s Dong Nguyen: Flappy Bird is coming back. Multiplayer. August. @CNBC,” Kelly Evans said in a Twitter post.

When Flappy Bird was pulled out from the app stores, many clones were introduced as if they will takeover its prominence.

CNET, a US-based website noted that while Dong Nguyen became an “overnight celebrity,” he has become subject of “vile side effects of the anonymous online mobs of Twitter and article comment sections.”

“Endlessly hounded by players who felt he was not grateful for his newfound wealth and had built success off stealing from Nintendo, Nguyen’s online presence became a repository for death threats and accusations,” CNET added.

Flappy Bird, a mobile app created by Vietnamese developer Dong Nguyen is considered as one of the most successful apps in the world which previously dominated in global app rankings as it landed as No.1 app in Apple’s App Store and Google Play Store.
