San Mig Coffee Defeated Talk ‘N Text in Game 3 (Highlights Video)

The San Mig Coffee Mixers defeated the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters in Game 3 of the PBA PLDT Home TVolution Commissioner’s Cup held Tuesday night, May 13, 2014 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum with the final score 77-75.

The thrilling Game 3 of the PBA Finals showcased former PBA MVP James Yap’s hitting a tough go-ahead jumper with just 28 seconds remaining to life the Coffee Mixers ahead of Talk ‘N Text and inch closer to their third PBA consecutive title.

The Game 3 victory of the Coffee Mixers gave them a 2-1 series lead and one win away from winning the PBA Commissioner’s Cup 2014. Right after the Game 3 victory, Coach Tim Cone was quoted as saying “It was a game for the ages, two proud teams that don’t quit and keep fighting,” Tim Cone said.

During the final period of the Talk ‘N Text vs. San Mig Game 3, Peter June Simon put the Mixers ahead at 71-69 with 2:23 left but Ranidel de Ocampo responded with a three-pointers to give the Texters lead.

Jayson Castro also added with another three-pointer to put the Tropang Texters ahead at 75-71, but the Mixers came right back with James Yap fading James Mays for a three-point that cut the Texters lead to just one point, 75-74, with only 1:07 left in the ball game.

Gilas Pilipinas mainstay and current Best Player of the Conference Jayson Castro, missed a three-point attempt on the next possession of the Texters giving the Coffee Mixers a chance to take the lead.

In San Mig’s ball possession, Marc Pingris was trapped on the baseline but made a bailout pass to James Yap who calmly dribbled right before nailing a tough fadeaway over Kelly Williams and sank a two-pointer putting San Mig ahead with 76-75 in the scorecard.

The Tropang Texters last chance to strike back failed when De Ocampo threw the ball away with just 6.9 seconds left, the Texters then fouled Joe Devance who split his free throw and the game ended with 77-75, and San Mig declared as the winner of Game 3.

The Game Four of the San Mig vs. Talk ‘N Text Finals will be held this coming Thursday at the PhilSports Arena.
