The San Mig Coffee Mixers are now back to the Finals of the PBA after they forced into a knockout Game Five semi-finals win against the Air21 Express in the PLDT Home TVolution Commissioner’s Fup Finals. The Coffee Mixers will faced the undefeated Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters in the finals of the PBA’s second conference.

San Mig Coffee enters the finals of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup by defeating Air21 Express in an impressive 99-83 victory on Wednesday night at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum. The team will face the top-seeded team, the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters for a rematch of the dramatic 2012 Commissioner’s Cup Finals.
The former Purefoods team, won each of the last two PBA tournaments while the Tropang Texters made an impressive showing in this season’s Commissioner’s Cup as they won all 13 of their games so far. Talk “N Text was able to sweep the Rain or Shine during their semi-finals bout.
James Yap, one of the PBA’s former MVP, struggled during the first three games against the Air21 Express but he made a breaking out performance in Game Four and set the tone of the Mixers offense until they successfully secured a slot in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals.
The Coffee Mixers will make its fifth finals appearance in the Eight Conference of the PBA under Coach Tim Cone, they return to the title round despite having limited rest between conference as a result of the compressed PBA schedules to give way to Gilas Pilipinas national team preparation in the upcoming FIBA World Cup in Spain.
The match-up of the two imports in James Mays and Richard Howell is also one of the most exciting portion of the San Mig Coffee vs. Talk ‘N Text championship duel. The two imports are superbly talented although they are not as popular as previous imports of the league but the fact that the PBA locals vastly improved the two imports were considered as a good example of a role player.
The Game 1 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals will start at around 8:00 PM on Friday night, May 9, 2014 at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum featuring the Talk ‘N Text dynasty and the underdog, San Mig Coffee Mixers.
