Jhoanna Aguila, the 24-year-old Sydney-based Filipino has entered The Voice Australia blind auditions with her soulful rendition of Florence & The Machine song “You’ve Got The Love.”
Three of the four The Voice Australia judges; Will.I.Am, Joel Madden and Kylie Minogue turned their chairs just before Jhoanna Aguila ended her song.

“Are you Filipino,” Will.I.Am asked Jhoanna Aguila who said “yes”. “My best friend is Filipino. My best friend from my group Black Eyed Peas is Filipino,” the seven-time Grammy Awards winner said, referring to Apl.de.ap. “You were sent here and I’m supposed to work with you for the Filipino people”.
In the end, the pure-blooded Pinay decided to pick Will.I.Am. “I have to choose Will.I.Am,” Jhoanna Aguila said.
According to Jhoanna Aguila, she quit on her full-time job to concentrate on her music career. She also cited Alicia Keys, Norah Jones and Lauren Hill as he musical inspirations.
Jhoanna Aguila, the Filipina aspirant who entered on the world’s most popular singing competition started her career in music at a local parish where she had stint as a “worship leader.”
Jhoanna Aguila regularly performs at weddings, community programs and charity events. Her parents Sylvette and Marc were with her during the blind auditions.
“And if you ever want to talk to Apl, you know, he knows the president of your country,” Will.I.Am said in jest while accompanying Jhoanna Aguila down the stage following another remarkable achievement for the Philippines.
