DOJ Summons Cedric Lee for P194 Million Tax Evasion Case at BIR

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has summoned controversial businessman Cedric Lee to appear on its preliminary investigation regarding his P194.47 million tax evasion case filed by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).

In a subpoena issued by (–foul word(s) removed–)istant State Prosecutor Allan Stewart Mariano, Cedric Lee, one of the mauling suspects of Vhong Navarro is set to appear before DOJ on April 28, 2014 at 2 p.m.

The hearing which was initially set last Friday, April 11, 2014 was cancelled due to his client’s attendance on the grave coercion and the serious illegal detention case filed by actor-host Vhong Navarro.

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)  has filed tax evasion case against Cedric Lee together with Chief Operating Officer (CEO) John K. Ong and Finance Officer Judy Gutierrez Lee last March for the failure of his firm, Izumo Contractors Inc., to declare income tax payments for 2006 and 2009.

According to the complaint filed by the BIR, Izumo Contractors Inc received income payments approximately P306.62 million for 2006 and 2009 but only P72.22 million has been declared.

Based on the investigations conducted, Izumo Contractors Inc., owned and managed by Cedric Lee declared  P5.54 million in its income tax return (ITR) in 2006; P9.14 million in 2007;  P21.34 million in 2008 and P40.20 million in 2009.

According to Inquirer.net, the certification of its client showed that the income of the construction firm was P94.33 million in 2006;  P46.07 million in 2007; P30.83 million in 2008 and P131.49 million in 2009.
