Project NOAH: Domeng to Bring Storm Surge in 134 Areas in Visayas (List)

Project NOAH (Nationwide Operational (–foul word(s) removed–)sment of Hazards) earlier announced that the approaching Tropical Cyclone “Domeng” will bring storm surges in 134 areas in Visayas as the storm continues to intensify.

Project NOAH came across a list of specified localities in Visayas which will be affected by the predicted storm surge and tide with two meters or higher combined height.

The storm surges and tide brought by the Tropical Cyclone Domeng are expected to hit major parts in Visayas this coming Thursday, April 10, 2014 at around 5 p.m.

Project NOAH executive director Dr. Mahar Lagmay said via phone-patch interview with ANC that the predicted storm surge will not be powerful as Super Typhoon Yolanda which flattened communities in November 2013.

Although the forthcoming storm surges in the next few days comes with a minimal force, the geo-hazard body noted that the residents living near coastal areas must be aware of the updates regarding the approaching storm.

“This is nothing compared to Yolanda,” Dr. Mahar Lagmay stated via phone-patch interview. “But nonetheless, people should exercise caution.”

According to Pagasa, Tropical Cyclone Domeng is expected to landfall in various provinces of Surigao on Thursday morning and is expected to cross northeastern Mindanao, southern part of Cebu and Negros Provinces on the same day and it will reach Sulu Sea on Friday, April 11, 2014.
