Two of the Binibining Pilipinas 2014 candidates are considered as early favorites in the competition because of their previous experiences as returning runner-up to the country’s most prestigious beauty pageant. Miss Mary Jean Lastimosa (Bb. 25) and Miss Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach (Bb. 8) hopes to bring home the crown this time.
Bb. Pilipinas candidate No. 25 Mary Jean Lastimosa made a name for herself when she placed as Bb. Pilipinas 2011 2nd Runner-up under Aces & Queens. A year later she decided to join again with high hopes of the crown but she ended failing to make it to the Top 5 despite bringing home various special awards from major sponsors.
Pageant experts and fans thought that it was the end of the road for the 26-year-old Mary Jean Lastimosa, a proud Filipino-Arabian beauty titlist but this year she generated another buzz as she was announced as one of the 40 official candidate of Bb. Pilipinas. Mary Jean Lastimosa is now under the Kagandahan Flores camp, the team behind Bea Rose Santiago.
Meanwhile Pia Wurtzbach ended last year as the only finalist without a crown after she finished as first runner-up in Bb. Pilipinas 2013. This year she alreay received vast amount of training and experience which will surely put the Filipino-German girl having an advantage compared to the first-timers in Bb. Pilipinas.
The coronation night of the Bb. Pilipinas 2014 will be held this coming Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the historic Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City with special guest Miss Universe 2013 winner Maria Gabriela Isler from Venezuela.
