The University of the Philippines, the country’s largest premier institutions released their new academic calendars on their three campuses across the country. UP prepares to shift their upcoming opening of classes from the usual June opening to August 2014 opening.
According to the official Facebook Page of UP Manila, the classes of Manila campus will begin on August 6, 2014, with the same schedule applying to the School of Health Sciences in Palo, Baler, and Koronadal.

UP Manila’s first semester will end on December 5, 2014, while the second semester will commence on January 26, 2015 and ends on May 29, 2015. Summer classes for UP Manila will be on June 17, 2015 to July 17, 2015.
Meanwhile the University of the Philippines-Visayas announced through their official website that the first semester for the Academic Year 2014-2015 will start on August 18, 2014 and ends on December 5, 2014. UP Visayas campuses are located in Tacloban, Leyte and Miag-ao in Iloilo City.
The UP Visayas also announced the schedule of the second semester which will be on January 26, 2015 until May 22, 2015. The summer classes for UP Visayas is scheduled from June 18 up to July 24, 2015.
The UP Manila and Visayas campuses also announced that the deadline for applications for admission has been moved to March 29 for certain graduate programs such as PhD in Education, Master of Public Management, and Doctor of Communication, while the other programs have an April 26, 2014 deadline.
The University of the Philippines distance learning education, the UP Open University noted that the first semester programs will begin this coming August 23, 2014, but they did not release yet the complete academic calendar.
The above-mentioned three campuses are among the seven UP campuses covered by a Board of Regents decision approving the shift in the Academic Calendar. Other campuses such as Baguio, Los Banos, Mindanao and Cebu have not yet released their academic calendars while the UP Diliman Campus is not covered by the ruling.
