Crowdfunding Site Kickstarter Reaches $1 Billion in Pledges

The world’s leading crowdfunding website, Kickstarter reaches $1 billion in pledges as announced by the company on their official website as they celebrate the milestones through a special page posted on Kickstarter.

TheVerge reported that more than half of the $1 billion pledges was received by various projects in the last 12 months. The achievement of Kickstarter, a company founded by Yancey Strickler, Charles Adler and Perry Chen last 2009, was made possible through the donations from 5.7 million donors from various countries.

The announcement of the $1 Billion Pledge achievement was released on March 3, 2014, nearly five years since the site was launched way back April 2009. The pledges on Kickstarter had a slow steady increase based upon the chart posted on their official $ 1 Billion dollar page.

The special page of Kickstarter also feature about the campaigns and pledges, a total of $500 million was raised in the past year alone. The country with the most number of pledges are the United States with $663 million, United Kingdom with $54 million, and Canada with a total of $44 million.

The $1 Billion dollar page of Kickstarter noted some of the most influential and prolific backers from various countries worldwide with special mention to the likes of Neil Gaiman, who was named as Kickstarter’s “most influential” user.

According to Kickstarter’s statistics the crowfunding site now brings in over $1 million pledges per day from a total of 224 countries worldwide.
