Ali Peek Leaves Pro Basketball after 16-year Career

Veteran PBA big man Ali Peek finally decided to hang his jersey after 16 fruitful years playing with different teams in his career, Peek announced on Wednesday.

The 6’4 undersized center/forward tweeted about his official retirement thru his twitter account @mtnpeek while expressing his gratitude to the valuable individuals in his life and to God.

“2day I retire from professional basketball. I thank my family, loved ones, friends, team, coaches, management, and God:) what a ride!” said Peek, who won championship with Alaska and Talk n’ Text.

The known “Man-mountain” also thanked all the PBA fans and the Filipino people for their overwhelming support in the sport of basketball and to the PBA.

“I also want to thank all of you! The die-hard PBA fans who continued to support the league all these yrs! Please keep it up!!!:).”

“I also want 2 thank the Philippines n it’s great people! I believe the Filipinos are the most p(–foul word(s) removed–)ionate bball fans in the world!!!” He tweeted.

The veteran frontcourt man’s decision to leave the hardcourt for good was also confirmed by Tropang texters head coach Norman Black.

Peek, who was drafted third overall in 1998, only saw action for nine games in the Philippine Cup after being placed to the reserve list due to his injury and surplus of Fil-Am players in TNT’s roster. He provided quality minutes and had averaged 4.0 points and 4.5 rebounds this season.

The 39-year old Peek suited up for Pop Cola, Alaska, Coca-Cola, Sta. Lucia, and Talk `N Text during his colorful journey in the league while submitting career averages of 11.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.0 (–foul word(s) removed–)ist.
