Anne Line Gjersem to Perform in the Medal Round of Sochi’s Figure Skating

Filipino-Norwegian figure skater Anne Line Gjersem moved on the next round of the figure skating competition in Sochi Olympics, the medal round after she placed 24th among the 30 contestants of the competition.

During the short program held earlier today, the 20-year-old Anne Line Gjersem was ranked no. 24th in the short program and made it to the highly anticipated medal round of Women’s figure skating finals in Sochi, Russia.

Anne Line Gjersem scored a total of 48.56 during the short program and become the last competitor to qualify to the free skate program. Her performance during the short program received a score of 26.13 on technical elements and 22.43 on program components for a total of 48.56.

The Filipino-Norwegian figure skater whose mother hails from Isabela was able to edge out Jenna McCorkell of Great Britain who got 48.34 total score during the short program of the Women’s Figure Skating event in the Sochi Olympics 2014. 

Defending Olympics gold medalist Kim Yuna of South Korea topped the short program as she scored a total of 74.92, followed by Russia’s favorite player Adelina Sotnikova who got a total score of 74.64 in the short program. 

The Women’s Figure Skating Finals or the Free Skate Program will take place tonight, February 20, 2014. The show will start at around 11:00 PM (Philippine Time). It will be shown live on national TV through TV5. The Fil-Norwegian skater Anne Line Gjersem will be skating fifth among 24 finalist.
