This coaching shuffle of Petron, which will change its name back to San Miguel Beermen next conference, was bared to Spin.ph by a source, who said that the decision has been formalized on Monday.
Ravanes, though will not be a full-pledged one as he is set to share headship with team consultant Todd Purves, who will now take a more active role in the SMC flagship squad. The Petron will even give the foreign mentor from ASEAN Basketball League the right to draw plays in actual games rather than newly appointed head coach.
“Yun angnagingdesisyon. It was already relayed to them. Todd already knows his new role in the team. Hopefully this one will work wonders,” said the source.
With this arrangement, Ravanes the experienced deputy of San Miguel franchise and Purves, who was the mentor responsible for the Indonesia warriors’ success during 2012 and 2013 in ABL, will have a similar set-up that Olsen Racela and RajkoToroman have had last year.
Meanwhile, Abanilla, who steered Petron to a finals appearance in Governor’s Cup and a semifinal finish in the on-going conference is said to become the new team manager.
