Table Tennis (–foul word(s) removed–)ociation of the Philippines (TATAP) said that the sport of table tennis has a great chance of winning the first gold medal of the country in the Olympics.
TATAP President Ting Ledesma believed that their athletes can be the country’s hope of taking home more gold medals not only in South East Asian games or Asian Games but also in the World stage of Olympics.
Ledesma, 41, took over the position of being the head of the TATAP in 2012, the time when the sport starting to loose its energy and composure.
In line with the development of the sport in the country, the Table Tennis (–foul word(s) removed–)ociation will organize a national Junior selection in March for its gr(–foul word(s) removed–)roots development programs.
Another expected event that they will conduct is the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Philippine World Pro Tour in Subic, Zambales for a worldwide promotion.
SEA Games bronze medalist Richard Gonzales, 41, spearheaded the Philippine Table Tennis team together with Andrew Timson, Ian Larriba, Jamaica Sy, Sendrina Muse Balatbat, Princess Tanbo and Annabel Commendador.
Also with them are their coaches including Lauro Crisostomo, Noel Gonzales, and Lorie Jawad.
TATAP expects more than 500 participants to compete in the Philippine Olympic Challenge Pro, coming from different parts of the country with some foreign delegates to join to win the crown.
