The win extended the Lady Spikers’ remarkable winning streak to 11 games, 27th victory overall dating back from last season.

The best player of the game Ara Galang netted 17 points, including 12 attacks, 3 blocks and 2 service aces while Aby Marano added 11 markers for the Taft-based squad, which almost slipped in the second set due to their complacency.

After having an easy time in the opening set, the Lady Spikers suddenly found themselves trailing by seven, 3-10 as the UP had a valiant effort in the second frame.

“Nakuha kasi nila ‘yung first set ng mabilis kaya nag-overconfident sa second set,” said La Salle coach Ramil de Jesus. (Statement from Spin.ph)

Galang and team captain Marano then led the charge for La Salle to rally the rest of the second and regain control in third set to still finish it off in straight sets.

Angelie Araneta and Katherine Bersola scored 11 and 10 points respectively for the Lady Maroons who dropped to league-worst 1-10.
