Basyang Jan. 31- Feb. 1 (5PM-5AM) Bulletin & Storm Signals

The Philippine weather bureau PAGASA released their latest Bagyong Basyang weather bulletin at exactly 5:00 PM of January 31, 2014. According to PAGASA, the center of Basyang was located at 201 kilometers East of Surigao del Norte, moving West at 33 kilometer per hour (kph).

Bagyong Basyang is now packing a maximum sustained winds of 85 kph near the center and gusts of up to 100 kph as reported by PAGASA.

PAGASA already released a Yellow (Heavy) Rainfall Warning for areas previously hit by Yolanda including the Southern part of Eastern Samar and Western Samar; Leyte, Southern Leyte and Biliran Island. There will be moderate to heavy rainfall expected within the 400-kilometer diameter of the storm.

Storm Signals NO. 2 are hoisted in the following areas of Visayas and Mindanao: (61-100 kph)

Negros Oriental & Negros Occidental
Siquijor
Guimaras
Cebu & Bohol
Leyte & Southern Leyte
Eastern Samar & Samar
Biliran Island
Camotes Island & Camiguin

Northern part of Surigao del Sur
Northern part of Agusan del Norte

Public Storm Signals NO. 1 in the following areas:

Masbate, Palawan, Calamian Group of Islands, Northern Samar, Aklan, Capiz, Antique, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, rest of Agusan del Norte, rest of Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur, Northern part of Bukidnon, Lanao del Norte and Zamboanga del Norte.

The Bagyong Basyang is expected to make a landfall over the Southern Leyte and Surigao del Norte late Friday or early Saturday morning. It is expected to be at 166 kilometers northeast of Puerto Princesa City by tomorrow afternoon and at 529 kilometers west northwest of Puerto Princesa City or outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Sunday afternoon.
