Deniece Cornejo revealed on her affidavit that it was Zanjoe Marudo who befriend her and made the first move when they first meet, before Vhong Navarro entered the scene and contacted her through her cellphone number.
The 22-year-old controversial model who uses the screen name Denise Millet Cornejo submitted her affidavit to the Taguig Prosecutors Office on Wednesday, January 29, 2014.

The alleged brain behind the beating of actor Vhong Navarro narrated on her affidavit that she first saw Navarro sometime in 2011 in a store of a Makati Mall where the actor was endorsing an international shoe brand during that time.
Cornejo’s affidavit stated that during that time she was also shopping for her brother’s shoes. Deniece Cornejo revealed that she saw Vhong Navarro staring at her while uttering “ang ganda talaga (she is so beautiful).”
The Kapamilya actor Zanjoe Marudo was also present during Vhong Navarro’s endorsement launch, it was Zanjoe Marudo who made a move and introduced himself to Deniece Cornejo.
According to the affivadit “His companion, Xanjo (Zanjoe) Marudo (sic), without introductions, suddenly asked me ‘Para sa boyfriend mo? (Is that for your boyfriend)?” Deniece Cornejo, however, did not elaborate her response to Zanjoe’s question according to a news report posted by Inquirer.
She just continued with the following statement: “After that incident, I noticed that Kuya Vhong kept trying to follow wherever I went at the event.”
As stated by Deniece Cornejo on her official sworn statement, she did not interact further during the event, but she revealed that she was really “surprised” that a few days later, Vhong Navarro called her cellphone number. She also revealed that Vhong Navarro got her phone number during the same event, because she gave her number to the personnel of the shoe brand when they asked her of her number.
Deniece clarified that she only gave her personal number to the shoe personnel because she is an aspiring model. Fast forward to the year 2013, it was the time that she and Vhong Navarro started exchanging calls and messages, with the actor constantly asking her out for “dinner and drinks.”
Deniece Cornejo filed criminal charges against Vhong Navarro for allegedly raping her last January 22, 2013 in the condo unit she rented in Forbeswood Heights. Deniece also narrated that Cedric Lee came to the rescue during the alleged attacked of Vhong Navarro to her, she also confirmed that Lee and others who came to the rescue beat up Navarro and brought the actor to the Southern Police District, wherein they told the authorities that they inforced a “citizen’s arrest.”
