La Salle Defeats Ateneo Remains Undefeated in UAAP Women’s Volleyball

The UAAP Women’s Volleyball depending champion La Salle Lady Spikers defeated their arch-rival, the Ateneo Blue Eagles in a highly-anticipated match held on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Lady Spikers defeated Ateneo with the final score at 25-16, 25-20 and 25-16 in front of the 13,000 crowd at MOA Arena. The win of La Salle continued their winning streak in the UAAP Season 76 Women’s Volleyball Tournament.

The Ateneo Lady Eagles actually got a better start in the opening set through consecutive aces by Marge Tejada giving Ateneo a 9-5 lead, but La Salle skipper Abigail Marano provided the spark for La Salle, and Mika Reyes began to (–foul word(s) removed–)ert herself and the Lady Spikers took control of the contest. 

La Salle never looked back on their domination of Ateneo as Cyd Demecillo and Desiree Cheng also contributed to scoring for La Salle who took the opening set at 25-16. 

Ateneo bounce back and have some bright moments during the third set of the match with the score at 8-6, but La Salle soon seized control of the set with a 7-0 blast and made it 13-8 and cruised to a victory over Ateneo Lady Eagles. 

The win of the De La Salle Lady Spikers is their 22nd consecutive victory since Season 75. Ateneo on the other hand drop to 5-2 in team standing this season, with their only loss coming from both La Salle and National University.
