A Facebook page launched to benefit a 3-month-old baby named Coby whose in need of liver transplant is currently making rounds on the social networking site which captured the attention and touched the hearts of some netizens.
Baby Craig Jacob “Coby” Araos Castillo was born with chronic liver failure and must undergo an immediate liver transplant. However, hospitals based in the Philippines are unable to conduct kidney transplants on young babies and therefore in order to proceed with the operation, the family need to rush abroad.
“Fortunately, there are two hospitals in Singapore that can operate on young babies. Singapore is our first option. It’s nearer so it will be safer for Coby to travel and it is [relatively] cheaper,” Baby Coby’s aunt Rachel Araos stated in an interview with ABS-CBNNews.
The Facebook page dedicated to Coby has already garnered more than 2, 000 supporters and is now being used to generate funds for Coby’s liver transplant.
“Initially, [the page was created] just to update friends and family of [Coby’s] progress. However, as we are faced with a possible liver transplant abroad, friends initiated several fund-raising activities. It snowballed from there,” Rachel Araos further explained.
Coby was going in and out of the Medical City after he was diagnosed with jaundice or a condition that makes a newborn’s skin and the white part of the eyes look yellow and continuously he was undergoing supportive treatments for his condition.
Meanwhile, interested donors who would like to help the ailing child may contact the Araos-Castillo family through rally.org/hope4coby and facebook.com/hopeforcoby.
