Heat Waves Hits Australia: Bats Falling from Sky (Video)

Strange weather patterns hits various areas worldwide, if “Polar Vortex” is currently happening in the United States and Canada, Australia on the other hand suffered from heat waves resulting about 100,000 deaths of bats in southern Queensland.

According to a news report from ABC.net.au, m(–foul word(s) removed–) deaths of bats occurred in about 25 separate colonies since the weekend. Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPA) spokesman Michael Beatty says that the heatwave was a significant hit to the population of bats across the Australia.

Mashable also reported that the strange weather patterns happening in Australia as major heat wave hits the northeast state of Queensland, with temperature reaching 135 degrees Fahrenheit (57.22 degrees Celsius).

The RSPA also confirmed that 10,000 bats falls to the ground and died on impact, most of the residents located in the vicinity of fallen bats found those creatures.

Queensland authorities warned residents not to touch the fallen bats to prevent any bites and scratches that would spread viruses. According Bat Conservation & Rescue Queensland President, Louise Sanders “[a]nything over 43 degrees Celsius (109 degrees Fahrenheit) and [the bats] just fall.” he stated as reported by Courier Mail.
