Polar Vortex: Boiling Water Turns to Snow in Seconds (Video)

The video report of ABS-CBN in North America by anchor Don Tagala is currently making rounds in social media after the latter throws boiling water into the air, which turns into snow after a couple of seconds.

Majority of the United States are currently experiencing a phenomenon called “polar vortex” where the entire country suffered extreme cold which resulted business  operations to cease and thousands of flights have been cancelled.

The current temperature particular in New Jersey and other parts of the country is having a sub-zero temperature brought by arctic polar vortex.

Polar vortex is commonly known as polar cyclone, polar low or circumpolar whirl, wherein the temperature plunge to their lowest levels covering approximately -60 Fahrenheit (-51 Celsius).

The National Weather Service described the weather as “life-threatening,” while the Weather Prediction Center warned of a “dangerously cold air m(–foul word(s) removed–).”

Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and Filipino immigrants as well as US citizens in the United States  are very much affected by the polar vortex. Meanwhile, the government and local authorities had already provided safety precautions for the areas affected.

Peter Tuazon said “Magsuot ng makapal na medyas, magdoble-doble ng jacket, sweater, saka tatakpan mo yung tenga mo.”

Francisca Rivera said “Masakit sa mukha lalo na kung windy pa mahangin pa yun sobrtang lamig.”
