Filipino youth boxing sensation Eumir Felix Marcial was awarded with the Best Asia Youth Boxer of the Year award given by the Asian Boxing Confederation.
He was also awarded with the Best Asian Competition for 2013 plum after his success with the Asian Youth Championships organized by ABAP last March in Subic Bay, Zambales.
Eumir Felix Marcial was cited for his performance in the Asian Youth Championship where he bagged the gold medal in the 64 kg. (light welterweight cl(–foul word(s) removed–)). Other boxers who won during the event were Jade Bornea (light-flyweight), Ian Clark Bautista (flyweight) and James Palicte (lightweight).
The PLDT-ABAP boxer Eumir Felix Marcial will be turning 18 years old this 2014, he will be eligible to fight and will be a force to reckon with in this year’s Asian Games slated in Incheon, South Korea.
ABAP President Ricky Vargas, thanked the ASBC for the recognition and he was quoted as saying “Marcial is one of our prized discoveries from our gr(–foul word(s) removed–)roots development and is one of those who are looking at to carry the torch for the country in the future competitions.” Vargas stated.
In other boxing news, the boxer medalis who won in the recently-concluded Southeast Asian Games held in Myanmar last December are slated to receive their cash incentives from ABAP when they report for training after the Christmas break.
Filipino boxers went home with three golds, four silvers, and three bronzes. Gold medalist gets P300,000, silver P200,000 and bronze medalists will get P100,000. This part of the incentives from the Philippine Sports Commission.
