The 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is now the most successful edition of the 39-year-old event, organizers said Saturday, as it broke all its previous box office records after only 10 days in theaters.
The Metro Manila Film Festival 2013 entry movies broke the records of the previous MMFF in terms of box office income as confirmed by the organizers, the MMDA. Dominating the box office are the movies “My Little Bossings” and “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy.”
According MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino the gross income of the MMFF 2013 entry movies have already reached mored than P815 million nationwide as of January 3, 2014.
The latest official figures from the MMDA is P200 million or 34.3% higher than the MMFF’s gross earnings at the same point last year, which was recorded at P608 million.
The official statement of the MMDA states that “All records broken,” the MMDA official said, referring to the previous day-to-day and total earnings of the festival nationwide. “[This is the] most successful MMFF so far.” MMDA stated.
During the 2012 edition of the MMFF the total gross income of the MMFF entry movies reached P767.8 million at the end of its 14-day theatrical run.
During the 2011 editon the total box office income reached P636.7 million in 14 days of showing, the 2012 gross income is previously the highest over-all MMFF box office income. The record was already broken by the 2013 box office income in just 10 days of showing.
