On Tuesday December 10, 2013, the group of militants held a rally outside the house of President Benigno Aquino III to protest what they believe is the leader’s in action over cases of human rights violation happening under his term.
There were at least 200 protesters from militant group Karapatan- Southern Tagalog joined together near the house of Aquino along Times Street before 5.am overwhelming police stationed in the area.
The members of Karapatan- Southern Tagalog, carrying several placards, banners and an effigy of Aquino depicted as “Wrecking King” which means the cause of destruction and they successfully held a program in front of the president’s house after clashing with the police forces.
The video that was uploaded shows that militant group forcefully push and pull the metal fence away from the police, for them to enter and voice out what they aimed for, with their unity, the Police was over powered due to the number of people pulling out the fence.
One of the banner showed “Panagutin ang Rehimeng US Noynoy Aquino: Sumpa ng Kalikasan, Delubyo sa Kabuhayan, Berdugo ng Karapatan at Hustisyang Panlipunan,” with his evil picture under Karapatan-TK, and the other banner shows “Itigil ang Pasismo Ilitaw si Benjamin Villeno Lider Manggagawa” under Pamantik KMU and “Stop the killing, JUSTICE! Ricardo Romero.
One member of Karapatan said in an interview “Ngayong matagumpay na naabot namin itong tapat ng bahay ni Noynoy Aquino sa kabila ng gitgitan kanina, personal naming gustong irehestro kay Noynoy Aquino na itigil na ang pampulitikang pamamaslang, dahil sa Southern Tagalog 21 na ang biktima ng extra judicial killings, nananatiling 50+ ang political prisoners, at apat dito ang enforced disappearances, ngayong araw ng International Day of Human Rights gusto naming iparating kay Noynoy Aquino na bigyan ng hustisya ang lahat ng biktima ng paglabag sa karapatang pantao at itigil na ang panunungkit sa hanay ng mamamayan.”
