Secretary Mar Roxas of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) answers the allegations about the sentiments made by Mayor Romualdez during a hearing conducted by the Philippine Senate yesterday.

The DILG Secretary Mar Roxas was interviewed by Arnold Clavio on “Unang Balita,” the Interior head clarifies the issue of politicking by the national government after the onslaught of super typhoon Yolanda in Tacloban City.
The 56-year-old Mar Roxas who was known as a close ally of the Aquino Family said that his sympathy goes out to Mayor Romualdez, his family and his constituents, he stated further that being a victim is not a license to deprive the public of the truth.
According to Mar Roxas during the interview with Unang Balita, even if Romualdez would not seek for help, the national government was already there in Tacloban City. This is in response to the allegations made by Mayor Romualdez lambasting President PNoy and Mar Roxas for not doing an appropriate intervention for immediate rescue operations in Tacloban.
Secretary Mar Roxas clarified that there was an overwhelming (–foul word(s) removed–)istance provided by the national government. There were additional 1,700 policemen in the city as most members of the PNP in Tacloban were also victims. There were also 282 trucks in the city that were helping with the clearing of the debris and dead bodies as soon as the typhoon subsided.
Veteran anchor Arnold Clavio also asked Sec. Mar Roxas if he really mentioned “Ikaw ay isang Romualdez at ang pangulo ay isang Aquino” (You are a Romualdez and the President is an Aquino), Roxas replied, and denied the allegations.
