During the November ranking of the WBC, Manny Pacquiao was not included in the list of welterweights, the move comes as a surprise to the Filipino boxing icon which leads to speculations that the world boxing body is making an effort to pave the way for the showdown between Pacquiao and Mayweather.

The current title-holder of the WBC Welterweight belt is the undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., with the latest development in rankings, Mayweather could be mandated by the WBC to defend his title against Pacquiao or risk being stripped of his title belt.

The Philippine Star reported that in the previous rankings of the WBC, Manny was not included, but with the latest ranking, Pacquiao leapfrogged over No. 2 ranked-Luis Abregu of Argentina and No. 3-rated Amir Khan.

The popular boxer Amir Khan, who used to be trained by Freddie Roach and was a former sparring partner of Manny Pacquiao, is reportedly being considered by Mayweather to be his next opponent in the ring.

Based upon the contracts of Floyd Mayweather, he has four fights left in his m(–foul word(s) removed–)ive six-fight deal with US broadcaster Showtime. He successfully defeated his two previous opponents namely Robert Guerero and Saul Alvarez and preserved his record.

According to Top Rank, Manny Pacquiao is scheduled to fight this coming April 12, with Juan Manuel Marquez, Timothy Bradly and Ruslan Provodnikov as possible opponents.
