President Benigno Aquino III accepted the irrevocable resignation of Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Rozzano Rufino “Ruffy” Biazon and gave him “until the end of the week”, who is facing charges for alleged participation in the P 10-billion pork barrel scam.
“I have given Commissioner Biazon until the end of the week to wind up his affairs in the Bureau of Customs, in order to ensure an orderly transfer,” the President said. “I wish him nothing but the best as he returns to private life,” the President added.
“In his letter to me, and in our conversation, he explained that it would be best to provide the Secretary of Finance the widest leverage and flexibility to steer the future direction of the Bureau of Customs (BOC), in light of the controversy brought about by Commissioner Biazon’s inclusion in the complaint of the National Bureau of Investigation before the Ombudsman,”as the president continued.
Last week, the National Bureau of Investigation charged Biazon, a former Muntinlupa congressman and 33 others with allegations in misconduct, direct bribery, graft and corrupt practices in the Office of the Ombudsman for allegedly channeling pork barrel to fake NGOs put up by Janet Lim-Napoles, the alleged mastermind of the pork barrel scam.
