The Philippines largest news media organization, ABS-CBN Corporation garnered a total of eight awards in the recently concluded 35th Catholic M(–foul word(s) removed–) Media Awards (CMMA) recognizing the stations values-oriented programs on different media platforms.
The Kapamilya Channel took home four awards in Television Categories including Best TV Specials for its documentary “San Pedro Calungsod,” Best Talk Show for “Bottomline with Boy Abunda,” Best Public Service Program for “Pinoy True Stories: Saklolo,” and Best Station ID for ABS-CBN TV7 Palawan’s “Kwento ng Pasko” Christmas Station ID.
For the CMMA Radio Categories, DZMM’s “Failon Ngayon” anchored by veteran broadcast journalist Ted Failon , won the Best News Commentary for the second consecutive year.
The Best Public Service Radio Ad was also awarded to ABS-CBN Creative Communications Management for conceptualizing and producing the radio promo “DZMM Bantay Lakbay” that aired during the Holy Week in 2012.
ABS-CBN’s movie outfit Star Cinema’s 2013 blockbuster film “It Takes a Man and a Woman” featuring John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo, was awarded with the Student’s Choice for Best Film.
In the music category, ABS-CBN, also earned a recognition in the music category as “Kuya Pedro,” a song written and performed by inspirational diva Jamie Rivera under Star Records honoring San Pedro Calungsod, won the Best Inspirational Song Award.
The Catholic M(–foul word(s) removed–) Media Awards is organized by Archdiocese of Manila, it is awarded to media products, whether in press, advertising, radio, television and film, and enhance the total human development of the Filipino audience through the competent and professional use of m(–foul word(s) removed–) media techniques and to promote Christian values.
The 35th CMMA was held at the GSIS Theater in Pasay City, the CMMA received 737 entries this year in 57 categories, only 216 selected as finalists. The theme for this year is “Social networks: Portals of truth and faith, new spaces for evangelization.”
