PBA Rookies 2013 Salaries Could Reach P8.5 Million in Basic Pay

The top three picks in the recently concluded 2013 PBA Rookie Draft held last Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Robinson’s Ermita, namely Greg Slaughter, Ian Sangalang, and Raymond Almazan could rake in P8.5 million in basic pay in their first three seasons in the professional league.

The Cebuano center, Greg Slaughter who was first pick by Barangay Ginebra are expected to get the maximum allowable for a PBA rookie, a monthly pay of P150,000 in the first year, P225,000 in the second year and P337,500 in the third year of playing professionally. Slaughter and fellow top pick Ian Sangalang are eligible to receive such a huge amount of cash as rookies.

For the third draft pick, Raymond Almazan, he also deserved no less than the above mentioned salaries as confirmed by Rain or Shine top official Mamerto Mondragon. Aside from Almazan who will be playing for Rain or Shine, the Elasto Painters are also keen on signing Alex Nuyles and Jeric Teng.

Jeric Teng will also get a lucrative pact with the company behind Rain or Shine, the Asian Coating Inc. franchise, due to his popularity as a UST and UAAP player just like what they have done with popular player Chris Tiu who was use in their marketing programs.

Based upon the results of the 2013 PBA Draft, Rain or Shine along with Barangay Ginebra, Globalport, San Mig Coffee and Alaska Milk have bolstered their respective rosters after the draft exercise considered as the deepest pool of amateurs and rookies entering the professional league.
