The Philippine government announced that there are 500 classrooms in Region 3 and 4-A that were turned over to the Department of Education as part of the public-private partnership (PPP) for School Infrastructure Project Phase 1 (PSIP 1).

The DepEd accepted more than 120 units of one and two-storey school building during a ceremony held at the San Juan del Monte National Trade School in Bulacan. The construction company Megawide Construction Corporation completed the project under the PPP of the national government.
Recipients schools of the 500 classrooms from Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bataan, and Bulacan attended the turn-over ceremony together with Education Secretary Brother Armin Luistro.
The national government is currently continuing the effort to address the problem of classroom shortage in the country and close the gap of the 66,800 classroom backlog. The partial turnover of the 500 classrooms is part of the said effort.
According to the national government the total contract price of the completed 500 classrooms was P16.2 billion. Two of the three contracts were awarded to Megawide forRegions 3 and 4-A and BF Construction Corporation for Region 1.
The PPP for School Infrastructure Project Phase 1 (PSIP) involves the design, construction, maintenance, and financing of 9.0303 classrooms with school furniture, fixtures and toilets for 2,204 public elementary and secondary schools in Region 1, 3 and 4-A over a 10-year case contract with a total approved budget of P16.427 billion.
