Philippines got the highest international football rankings based upon the latest FIFA rankings on Thursday, October 17, 2013. The Philippines climbed four notches to No. 137 from the previous No. 141 ranking.

With the Philippines climbed in ranking the national team was able to surp(–foul word(s) removed–)ed Thailand as Southeast Asia’s best national football team, Thailand went down to ranked No. 143, the second best team in the AFC.
The Philippine Azkals victory in the recently concluded Philippine Peace Cup was instrumental in earning more points so the national team climbed four notches up. The Philippines previous highest ranked was at the No. 141 in world rankings.
This month’s results saw one of Southeast Asian team’s most improved team, the Myanmar national football squad the third best Southeast Asian team, as they climbed from No. 162 to No. 149.
Philippines, Thailand and Myanmar were followed by former powerhouse Vietnam (No. 151), Singapore (No. 155), Malaysia (No. 160) and Indonesia (No. 162). In third place is the Hong Kong National squad currently ranked at No. 148.
International powerhouse Spain remained at the top of the FIFA world rankings followed by the national team of Germany, Argentina, Colombia, and Belgium. The Philippine Azkals schedule this coming November is against the No. 71 ranked team, United Arab Emirates this coming November 9 and Philippines will face No. 154 ranked India on November 15.
