Petron vs. San Mig Coffee Game 3 Preview (October 16)

The Game Three of the PBA Governors Cup Finals will be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum tonight at around 8:00 PM and will be shown live through TV5. San Mig Coffee and Petron Blaze Boosters are jockeying for the lead as both teams secured one-win apiece during the first two games.

The PLDT Telpad Governors’ Cup Finals features the top two teams in the final conference of the PBA before the Christmas break. San Mig Coffee was able to bounce back from their Game One defeat and managed to even the series at 1-all.

Expected to give his all-out performance tonight is the Governor’s Cup Best Import Marqus Blakely who led the Coffee Mixers 100-93 victory over Petron Blaze Boosters. Aside from Blakely prominent local scorer James Yap have also produced the much-needed points in Game Two of the finals.

The Boosters was able to managed a good scare against the Mixers during the last few seconds of Game 2 after they hit their two consecutive three-pointers but was not enough to changed the lead of the Coffee Mixers. Petron experienced foul trouble in Game Two with their import Elijah Millsap fouled out together with superstar Arwind Santos and big man June Mar Fajardo.

In Game Three of the Finals Petron will hope to get a better performance for the Governor’s Cup Best  Player of the Conference awardee Arwind Santos. The former FEU stalwart finished with just four points and one rebound during Game 2, his lowest performance in the season so far.

Petron also suffered a huge blow on their back court with the absence of injured point guard, Alex Cabanot who confirmed that he tore his plantar fascia – a thick connective tissue supporting the arc on the bottom of the foot.
