The three-point shooting of Petron was unstoppable during the last period as they shot a total of 7 in 11 attempts which buried the San Mig Coffee who struggled to find answers against the prolific outside shooting of Petron’s guard.

The Game One win of Petron is their first finals victory in a championship game since winning the title last 2011. The Blaze Boosters also made a record in the PBA as they scored 41 huge points in the final period of the Governors Cup Finals Game One.

Petron import Elijah Millsap showed his worth as one of the Governors’ Cup best imports as he scored a triple-double his third in the tournament, finishing with 35 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 (–foul word(s) removed–)ists.

San Mig Coffee import Marqus Blakely scored with 23 points and 14 rebounds for his team but he failed to provide the much-needed points in the final period wherein he was limited to just two points. Former PBA MVP James Yap also struggled in the entire Game One providing with just eight points only, all scores made in the fourth quarter.
