The University of Sto. Tomas Growling Tigers successfully defeated the top-seed National University Bulldogs en-route to the finals of the UAAP Season 76.
The UST Tigers will now moved on to the next phase of the competition, the ultimate championship of the UAAP going up against De La Salle Green Archers. The championship will also feature the battle of the “Teng Brothers,” Jeron Teng for La Salle and Jeric Teng for UST.
The NU Bulldogs was defeated by the UST Tigers scoring with just 69 points compared to UST’s 76 points output. The team lead by Ray Parks, bowed out despite a twice-to-beat advantage in front of 17,828 spectators at MOA Arena.
UST’s triumph against the first-seeded NU became the first in UAAP history to win the series since the league adopted the Final Four Format in 1994. The UST returned to the UAAP Finals after they were swept by Ateneo last year.
