The much awaited event of Bacolod City – the Masskara Festival 2013 will be declared open on October 1, 2013 at the Bacolod Public Plaza at 8:00am – 9:00am.

The highlight of the festival is the MassKara streetdance competition. The barangay category will be held on October 20, 2013, and the school category on October 18, 2013.
According to the report, the performing barangays are Brgys. Cabug, Alijis, 6, 16, 37, 26, 21, 31, 4, 3, 22, 39, 12, 34 and 15.
For elementary school category are Paglaum Village Elem. School, Vista Alegre-Granada Elem. School, Estefania Elem. School, Crispino V. Ramos Elem. School, Education and Training Center School 3 and Abkasa Elem. School. For high school category are Villa Esperanza High School, Bata National High School, Bacolod City National High School and Singcang-Airport National High School.
This year the performances will be at the Paglaum Stadium and the streetdance will take the route from Hernaez St – Araneta St. – old Bacolod City Hall – Gatuslao St. and end with the awarding of prizes at the Bacolod City Public Plaza bandstand.
This year’s MassKara theme is “Rediscover and Celebrate Bacolod”.
Festival director Rhoderick Samonte had earlier said this year’s celebration, set from October 1-20 promises “20 days of non-stop fun in the Philippines only happening in the City of Smiles.”
