Parks, Ravena and Romeo Leading Gilas Pilipinas Cadet Pool

The Gilas Pilipinas national basketball team is planning to get the service of some of the most popular collegiate players in the country today as team manager Butch Antonio wanted to invite Ateneo star player Kiefer Ravena, NU’s Ray Parks and FEU’s Terrence Romeo to name a few.

According to Gilas Pilipinas team manager he is also eyeing for the service of Letran’s ace slotman Raymond Almazan for the national team’s preparation. Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes also said that he plans to invite Ravena, Almazan, Ateneo’s Chris Newsome, FEU’s Terrence Romeo, NU’s Ray Parks, La Salle big man Arnold Van Opstal and UST’s Kevin Ferrer to join the cadet pool.

The invitation of the top collegiate players in the Gilas national training pool doesn’t meant that they are already included in the cadet pool’s final list. Currently the Gilas Pilipinas cadet poll are composed of seven-footer Greg Slaughter, guard Keven Alas, FEU’s RR Garcia, Matt Rosser Ganuelas, Ronald Pascual and Garvo Lanete.

According to Gilas manager Butch Antonio if those players mentioned by Gilas, accept their invitation, they will then be included in the team that will most likely see action this year’s Southeast Asian Games in Napyidaw, Myanmar, where the Philippines will be defending its gold medal title.

The cadet players that will be included in the final roster could also be part of the national squad that will play in the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, which will be held in the middle of September.
