FIBA announced that right now there are already 10 participating teams secured their slot in the world’s most prestigious basketball competition, the FIBA World Cup 2014 to be held in Spain.
The AfroBaskete in Abidjan awarded national teams from Angola, Egypt and Senegal as the representatives of the African Zone in the FIBA World Cup. Since the year 1986 African champions Angola participated in every FIBA World tournament except during the year 1998.
African runner-up and campaigner Egypt last played at a World Championship in 1994, while the current third-placer in Africa, team Senegal have played the event three times in their history, the last was in 2006.
Two African basketball powerhouse team, Tunisia and Nigeria who participated in the 2012 London Olympics last summer failed to qualify for the World Cup in Spain.
24 teams will take part in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
