The Department of Social Welfare and Development through the official website of the Philippine Government, the Official Gazette is calling volunteers to help package goods and relief items in the afternoon and evening at the National Relief Operations Center (NROC).
According to the announcement made through Undersecretary Abigail F. Valte, to date there are 78,737 items have been packed, with 50,881 distributed to families and communities affected by Tropical Strom Maring. A total of 78,000 food packs are still needed to be put together, the DSWD targets the completion of 100,000 packs today, August 22, 2013.
The DSWD stated that the critical hours that they needed more volunteers in packaging are from 6 to 8 PM, to ensure the constant delivery of relief goods. The volunteers are asked to coordinate with DSWD with regard to the schedule and locations of relief operations.
DSWD is also calling on other groups and individuals who are interested in (–foul word(s) removed–)isting. The government encourages concerned citizens and groups to come together under the spirit of cooperation and bayanihan for the recovery of our countrymen.
