Barako Bull’s Emman Monfort scored his career-best 22 points as his team defeated the Meralco Bolts with the final score at 90-89, in the 38th PBA Governor’s Cup on Sunday, August 18 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.
The Barako Bull Energy Cola rebounded from their previous close decision lost to Talk ‘N Text in overtime last Friday and now improved their team standing with a 1-1, win-loss card.
Emman Monfort, the 16th pick in the 2012 PBA Draft added with 7 rebounds to help his team secured their first victory in the Governor’s Cup. The Meralco Bolts on the other hand suffered their first lost in the tournament after their successful win against Petron Blaze Boosters. The team tied in team standing with Barako Bull having 1-1 win-loss record.
The Meralco Bolts had a couple of chances during the last two possessions but their import Mario West missed on tough-angled runners. Mario West had 33 points, nine rebounds and four (–foul word(s) removed–)ists while Barako Bull import Mike Singletary tallied 28 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.
