Napoles Now a Fugitive Still At Large after Arrest Warrant

The controversial Janet Lim-Napoles was ordered arrested on Wednesday for the “serious illegal detention” of a whistleblower in the P10-billion pork barrel controversy. Napoles is still at large and the arrest warrant has yet to be served on Thursday, even as her lawyer, Lorna Kapunan, said she has not spokent to Napoles, nor did she know her client’s whereabouts.

The warrant of arrest was issued by Branch 150 of RTC-Makati on Wednesday afternoon, Napoles is the alleged mastermind behind the kidnapping of Benhur Luy, and Napoles’ brother Reynal “Jojo” Lim. Meanwhile Justice Sec. Leila De Lima said that Napoles may also face charges in connection with anomalies involding the Priority Development (–foul word(s) removed–)istance Funda (PDAF), or pork barrel, of several lawmakers.

The warrant of arrest according to De Lima were effectively also hold departure orders that would prevent them from escaping to other countries through airports or ports. Meanwhile, Kapunan said the warrants of arrest came as a surprise, as the illegal detention case had already been dismissed.

According to NBI records, their agents rescued Luy on March 22 at the Pacific Plaza Tower, where he was detained for three months after Napoles and Lim allegedly abducted him on December 19, 2012.
