GlobalPort Batang Pier defeated the Air21 Express with the final score at 101-94 and the import of GlobalPort showcased his worth as he scored with 37 points and grabbed 11 rebounds on his PBA debut during the opening of the PBA Governor’s Cup 2013 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The victory of GlobalPort is their first win since losing their last 11 games in the Commissioner’s Cup becoming winless since February 15, 2013. During the Governor’s Cup opening day, GlobalPort took control of the game in the first half as they opened up with a 47-30 lead in the second quarter.
The Air21 Express tried to rally back but GlobalPort import Cummings nailed a 360-degree fastbreak dunk and gave GlobalPort a huge lead 100-87, with just 1:08 remaining in the final quarter. Jay Washington scored 15 points in his first game with the Batang Pier after being acquired from Petron Blaze prior to the start of the conference.
