The 2013 most powerful typhoon as of this time, Super Typhoon Utor, (Bagyong Labuyo) slammed into the Philippines on Monday, October 12, 2013, triggering landslides and floods, cutting power and communications and leaving 9 fishermen missing according to PAGASA.
The tyhoon Labuyo (Utor) has a packing winds of 140 km per hour (87 mph) near its center and gusts of up to 170 km per hour, the typhoon slightly weakend after hitting the Philippines north and is moving slowly west-northwest at 19 km per hour, PAGASA stated.
The Philippine weather bureau also reported tha the coastal town of Casiguran in Aurora province suffered the worst damage, after Labuyo set off landslides that blocked its only access road. Gov. Gerardo Novera of Aurora confirmed through an interview with ANC that the powers was cut in the wee hours of the morning up to now, as well as communication lines in three towns in Aurora, that includes Casiguran town.
Bagyong Labuyo is the 12th tropical cyclone that hits the Philippines this year, it is expected to sweep through the Northern Philippine provinces of Benguet and Ilocos Sur before exiting towards the South China Sea by Tuesday, disaster and weather officials stated.
