BRP Ramon Alcaraz Arrived in Philippine Waters

The country’s newest warship, BRP Ramon Alcaraz p(–foul word(s) removed–)ed by Casiguran, Aurora at around 9:00 AM Friday, after almost 2-month jouney from the United States. The newest acquisition of the Philippines will join the Navy’s flaship BRP Gregorio del Pilar.

The BRP Alcaraz underwent a $15.6 million retrofitting and extended refurbishment while the Filipino crew and officers underwent training with the US Navy for about a year. The second warship of the Philippines was formerly known as USCGC Dallas.

It is the second Weather High-Endurance Cutter the country has acquired from the US government. It is set to meet with its sister ship, the BRP Gregorio del Pilar, off Bolinao, Pangasinan.

The Philippines two navy vessels then head to Subic, Zambales where they will be dock on August 6, the BRP Ramon Alcaraz will undergo dry-dock for maintenance and repainting, it will be fully commissioned in October. Philippine President Aquino is expected to welcome the newest ship of the Philippine Navy.
